Your privacy matters. Here's how we handle your data:
What We Collect
- •Email address for account creation and authentication
- •Pattern data you create (your behavioral patterns, nodes, and connections)
- •Your display name or nickname if you choose to share one, and voice recordings you make in the app, which are transcribed to provide its features
- •Subscription status and purchase history for your Unloop subscription
- •Anonymous usage analytics (features used, patterns completed)
- •Referral source when you visit from a tracked link (e.g., Reddit, Twitter) - stored as an anonymous session ID with no personal information
- •Calendar events you choose to connect in the iOS app, whose titles are used to spot upcoming moments tied to your pattern (an event is saved only if you choose to watch it)
- •Optional feedback and survey responses
How We Use Your Information
- •To save and display your patterns
- •To provide AI-powered insights and experiment suggestions
- •To fix bugs and improve app performance based on anonymous usage analytics
- •To send important product updates (you can opt out)
How We Protect Your Data
- •All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- •We use secure authentication through Supabase
- •Your patterns, stories, reflections, and voice recordings are never used to train AI models and are never shared with advertisers or used to target ads
- •We never sell your personal information
- •You can delete your account and all data anytime
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to run Unloop: hosting, database, and authentication (Vercel and Supabase), AI processing for reflections and voice features (Anthropic, OpenAI, and Deepgram, described in detail below), subscription management (Apple and RevenueCat), crash and performance reporting (Sentry), product analytics (PostHog), and, in the iOS app, install attribution (AppsFlyer, described below). These services access only the data necessary to provide their functions. When you request a refund for an App Store purchase, we also share limited information about that purchase and your use of the app with Apple, so Apple can decide your request.
AI Processing
Unloop's features are powered by three AI processing partners. In the iOS app, nothing you enter is sent to any of them until you agree to it in the app; what you write and say is then sent to produce Unloop's responses, and for nothing else:
- •Anthropic (Claude) generates your reflections, stories, readings, and predictions. It receives what you enter and say in the app: assessment answers, pattern data, feed entries, voice transcripts, coach and Presence conversations, your first name and the optional details you share during setup (so replies can address you naturally), and, if you connect your calendar, the titles of events you choose to have scored.
- •Deepgram turns your voice recordings into text, and the character's replies into speech. Every request we send excludes your audio from Deepgram's model improvement program.
- •OpenAI carries Presence, the live voice conversation: while a session is open, your audio streams to OpenAI so it can hear you and speak back. OpenAI also turns your words into numerical representations so the character can recall relevant past moments: feed entries, coach conversations, Presence turns, and the conversations you have inside a pattern are converted when they are saved, and each new message is converted again to find the matching ones. The text is sent for that conversion only, and the result is stored in our database.
- •Each of these providers processes your content solely on our behalf, under agreements that provide the same or equal protection of your data as this policy, and none of them use your content to train their models.
- •Content sent for processing is used to generate the response and to help the character remember you, and for nothing else. You can withdraw your consent at any time by deleting your account, which deletes your data, or by contacting us.
The Unloop iOS App
The iOS app involves a few things the website does not:
- •Attribution: to learn which ad or link brought you to Unloop, the app uses AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution service. AppsFlyer receives device identifiers, your IP address (which implies an approximate, city-level location), and events such as install, trial start, and subscription purchase or renewal, forwarded by RevenueCat. Apple's advertising identifier is included only if you allow tracking (below).
- •Your choice: the app asks for this permission once, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, the advertising identifier is not used and measurement falls back to Apple's privacy-preserving frameworks. Declining changes nothing about how the app works: same features, same prices.
- •Analytics: we use PostHog to understand how the app is used, including session recordings in which anything you type is masked. Recordings are kept for a limited period (currently 30 days) and are used only to improve the app.
- •Crash and performance reports (Sentry) contain technical diagnostics, never the words you write or speak.
- •The content of your patterns, stories, reflections, and conversations is never shared with advertising or attribution partners.
Your Rights
- •Access your data anytime through your account
- •Export your patterns in standard formats
- •Delete your account and all associated data
- •Withdraw your consent to AI processing at any time by deleting your account, which deletes your data
- •Contact us with any privacy concerns
Referral Tracking
When you visit Unloop from a tracked link (e.g., from social media), we collect:
- •The source platform (e.g., "reddit", "twitter") from the URL parameter
- •An anonymous session ID (UUID) stored in your browser's localStorage
- •Visit timestamp and whether you signed up or created a pattern
Privacy protections:
- •No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected through referral tracking
- •Session IDs are random UUIDs that cannot be linked to you
- •Data is automatically deleted after 90 days unless you sign up
- •You can clear the tracking data by clearing your browser's localStorage
Cookies & Local Storage
We use essential cookies and localStorage for:
- •Session management for authentication
- •Preference settings
- •Anonymous referral session tracking (see "Referral Tracking" above)
- •First-party analytics (PostHog) so we can see how the site is used
- •No advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies
